Violin/Viola

Alice is a trainee Suzuki violin teacher as of Summer 2019. She started playing the violin aged 7 as a student of JillianBryanston Leddra, and proceeded to teach herself the viola at the age of 10. Alice then gained a place at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where she studied with Jon Thorne, and later with Hilary Sturt. She led the viola section of all the RCM JD orchestras, including performing the solo parts of Elgar’s Nursery Suite in a 2006 recording conducted by Sir Mark Elder.

Alice has since coached numerous string ensembles, at Pro Corda (as part of the Leverhulme Fellowship), Junior Guildhall, National Strings, and Bayswater Suzuki Group, as well as at schools including Dame Alice Owen’s, Dulwich College and Bute House Preparatory School.¬†Alice has a comprehensive knowledge of the string chamber repertoire at all levels of study.
